CUT
Lounge chair and ottoman
The coming together of industrial precision and a more hands-on approach to form characterise the Cut lounge chair and ottoman. A simplicity in shape and production allows each piece to present its own unique folded form. Following the commitment to an experimental approach to industrial design, the Parisian based Studio BrichetZiegler has brought their unique take on the conventional lounge chair and ottoman combination. A simple metal base is covered in a single sheet of leather. Rather than pulling this leather layer taut, the leather between the chair seat and back is allowed to react in it’s own way, creating a point of visual interest. The simple affixing of leather to metal again appears in the ottoman design tying the series together. A visual lightness is combined with a structural ambiguity to create pieces that border on the edge of sculpture.
